When our Dad came to the Abraham House in Utica, we didn’t know what to expect. He was declining rapidly and the hospitals could no longer help him. It was a scary time. But we realized soon that we happened upon a miracle. What amazed us is that the caregivers at Abraham House knew just what to do so that his appetite returned, he had pain relief and his breathing improved. He said they made him so comfortable that he was able to rest and actually regain some strength. We could all see it on his face. He was able to watch his favorite college football games, visit with friends who stopped by and to even joke with the staff.

We decorated his room with photos and cards from friends and family as the staff always encouraged us to make ourselves at home. Our family had recently adopted a dog and the staff said we could bring him for a visit. We ended up bringing Scotti to visit several times.
On Christmas Eve, Dad sat in his wheelchair in the Abraham House kitchen and helped mix up a batch of cookies with one of the wonderful caregivers. We feel so fortunate that this level of love and care was available to Dad.

Just after Christmas 2023, Dad passed and joined our Mom who he missed so dearly these last 3 years. He was loved and pampered by our family and the staff at the Abraham House for 8 beautiful weeks. The caregivers have the most loving hearts and make a beautiful world possible for the families in their care. We love you all.
